An Appeal

As of today, this Facebook group has 134 members who care for the noble cause of Sukhe Dukkhe Organization. I personally am very proud to see such a large number of people taking interest in this effort on social welfare. The team at Sukhe Dukkhe is touching the hearts of many children who come from impoverished conditions by providing some much-needed support in terms of health and education. Having expressed my gratitude for your interest, I would also propose we do a little more to farther this cause. If you read the “Memorandum of Association” for this organization, you would find that many of the areas of service can neither be started nor expanded due to lack of financial support. You would also find that not all of these services require a lot of money to initiate the effort. Of course, expanded services may mean more time from you and me, but we all must first give the minimum we can afford to. Out of the 134 members of this FB group, approximately 25 are currently maintaining active membership by paying their monthly dues (Rs. 70/month).

You may check the details in the “Files” section of this page. I would earnestly urge the rest of the members of this group to become active members by paying the monthly or yearly dues. I am sure a great number of you spend a lot more than Rs. 840.00 on your personal needs several times a year, but have not thought of doing the same for this great cause. When you are a subscription-paying member, your voice is bound to be heard by the governing body before they make important decisions that positively affect the benefactors of this service. Becoming a member is very easy. I have done it and so can you without any thought of personal loss. Just talk to the committee members and get on your way to have your voice heard. We cannot complain about the evils inside our human society, unless we assume the responsibility of doing the right thing from our conscience. Get involved, help out to the best of your ability and get this great effort going.

Visit to Old Age Home

“I never forget an opportunity I had in visiting a home where they had all these old parents of sons and daughters who had just put them in an institution and forgotten may be. And I went there, and I saw in that home they had everything, beautiful things, but everybody was looking towards the door. And I did not see a single one with their smile on their face. And I turned to the Sister and asked: How is that? How is it that the people they have everything here, why are they all looking towards the door, why are they not smiling? I am so used to see the smile on our people, even the dying one smile, and she said: This is nearly every day, they are expecting, they are hoping that a son or a daughter will come to visit them. They are hurt because they are forgotten, and see- this is where love comes. That poverty comes right there in our own home, even neglect to love. Are we there to receive them, is the mother there to receive the child?” - Mother Teresa
